This study examines the relationship between functional movement screen (FMS) and athletic performance in young female volleyball players. The study was conducted with the participation of 93 young female volleyball athletes. The participants had an average age of 14.0 ± 1.49 years, an average weight of 55.0 ± 8.01 kg, and an average height of 1.68 ± 0.08 meters. Data collection was carried out in two stages, including measurements of the 20-meter sprint time, FMS scores, and standing long jump. The findings reveal a weak positive correlation between FMS scores and standing long jump measurements (r=0.265, p=0.005). However, no significant relationship was observed between the 20-meter sprint times and FMS scores (r=-0.019, p=0.429). These results suggest that fundamental movement patterns in volleyball players might be associated with jumping ability, whereas fast running abilities may not influence FMS scores. In conclusion, this study indicates that FMS could serve as an effective tool for predicting the athletic performance of volleyball players, yet the relationship could vary depending on specific factors and conditions. Future research with larger sample groups and studies across different sports are recommended to further delve into this relationship.
