Athlete Impact in the Covid-19 (Pandemic) Process
Abstract
The negative effects of the Covid-19 epidemic, which was first seen in Wuhan city of China's Hubei province at the end of 2019, affected the whole world in the middle of 2020, and its effects continued to a great extent in 2021, and cause a very difficult process for athletes. As well as making negative decisions on sports activities, cancellation of tournaments, postponed matches and quarantined athletes, it also has disrupted the training patterns that the athletes get accustomed to doing. Interruptions in training programs influenced adversely the cardiovascular systems, basic motor skills and the exercise capacity of the athletes. In addition, the metabolic symptoms and isolation process that occur in the athletes as a result of the Covid-19 infection can be shown as the reason for the low physical and psychological performance of the athletes. This study was carried out in order to offer solutions to the situation which compile the physical, mental and psychological effects from that are thought to occur in athletes during the Covid-19 period, and to evaluate the situation of the athletes during these periods.
