The research group consists of 29 individuals, 11 females and 18 males, studying at Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Faculty of Sports Sciences, Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching. Personal Information Form and Anadolu University Music Perception Test were used as data collection tools. Tests were applied in Polyphonic, Rhythm, Melody, Voice Length and Tempo categories. Since the data provided the assumption of normality, dependent sample t-test and independent sample t-test were performed and correlation test was applied to examine the relationship between the variables. According to the findings obtained, it was determined that there was no significant difference (p>.05) in the pre-test and post-test comparisons of Multi Voice, Melody and Voice Length. According to the findings, it was determined that there was a significant difference (p<.05) between the Rhythm pre-test and post-test, and between the Tempo pre-test and post-test. For Rhythm and Tempo, scores were higher on post-test measures. When examined according to the gender variable, it was determined that there was a significant difference (p<.05) in the Rhythm pre-test and post-test measurements, and the Rhythm score of men was higher than the Rhythm score of women in both measurements. According to the sport type variable, there was no significant difference in the pretest and posttests of Polyphony, Rhythm, Melody, Voice Length and Tempo (p>.05). As a result, it has been determined that rhythm education and dance lessons contribute to the development of Rhythm and Tempo perceptions of physical education and sports teaching department students.
