Öz
This study was conducted to examine the accessibility of Kocaeli Stadium for people with limited mobility, including their transportation to the stadium and the stadium’s accessibility according to UEFA and ADA criteria. The study was supported by a literature review, information from the stadium manager, and photographic images. Accessibility to Kocaeli Stadium (including the public transportation routes used for travel to and from the stadium, stadium bus stops, public transportation vehicles, accessible parking, accessible entrance and exit gates, ramps, accessible toilets, access routes within the stadium, and features of accessible special seating areas) was analyzed and questioned in terms of UEFA standarts for people with disabilities. Within the scope of the findings, accessibility for people with disabilities was evaluated and solution suggestions were developed to improve the current situation. The importance of prioritizing the accessibility of Kocaeli Stadium for people with disabilities was emphasized.

Öz
Bu çalışma, hareket kabiliyeti kısıtlı engelli kişilerin, “engelsiz şehirler” kapsamında Kocaeli Stadyumu’na ulaşımının ve stadyumun UEFA ve ADA kriterlerine göre erişilebilirliğinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Konu ile ilgili yapılan literatür taraması, stadyum yöneticisinden alınan bilgiler ve fotoğraflı görsellerle desteklenmiştir. Kocaeli Stadyumu’na ulaşılabilirlik (şehirden stadyuma geliş-gidişte kullanılan toplu taşıma güzergahı, stadyum otobüs durakları, toplu taşıma araçları, erişilebilir otopark, erişilebilir giriş-çıkış kapıları, rampalar, erişilebilir tuvaletler, stadyum içerisindeki erişim yolları, erişilebilir özel oturma alanlarına ilişkin özellikler) engellilere yönelik UEFA standartları bakımından analiz edilerek sorgulanmıştır. Bulgular kapsamında engellilere yönelik erişilebilirlik değerlendirilerek mevcut durumun iyileştirilmesi için çözüm önerileri geliştirilmiş ve engelli bireyler için Kocaeli Stadyumu’nun erişilebilirliğinin ön planda tutulmasının önemi vurgulanmıştır.
