Examination of High School and University Students' Levels of Enjoying Physical Activity
Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to examine the level of enjoyment of physical activities of high school and university students. The research was carried out with a quantitative research approach, in a cross-sectional, relational research design and on a voluntary basis. The research group consists of a total of 612 individuals, 293 women (47.9%) and 319 men (52.1%) studying at high school and university levels in Sivas. Personal information form and enjoyment of physical activities scale were used as data collection tools in the study. The JAMOVI (2.3.18) program was used in the analysis of the data. The construct validity of the scale used in the research was tested with confirmatory factor analysis. The normality assumption was evaluated based on descriptive statistics. Since the obtained data showed normal distribution, it was tested by applying t-test analysis in pairwise comparisons from parametric tests. In the evaluations made according to gender, it was determined that the level of enjoyment of male participants was higher than that of females (t = -6.14 and p<.05). In comparisons made according to school level, it was determined that university students' enjoyment levels were higher than high school students (t = -3.91 and p<.05). As a result of the research, it was concluded that the level of enjoyment of physical activities decreased as the school level increased.
