EVALUATION OF PHYSICAL, PHYSIOLOGICAL AND MOTORIC FEATURES OF BOYS AGED 10-12 YEARS ACCORDING TO BODY MASS INDEX

Abstract

Children's motor skill competence can be an important factor that relates
physical activity level and fitness level to health-related parameters.
Purpose:The aim of this study is to evaluate boys aged 10-12 years according to
their physical, physiological and motoric characteristics according to body
mass index, which is known as an important health parameter. Materials and
methods: A total of 226 Underweight(U, n:94), Normal weight  (N, n:92) and Overweight (O, n:40) boys were
participated voluntarily according to the body mass index and having a mean age
of 11.7 ± 0.06.Children's height, body weight, body mass index (BMI) were
calculated using the TANITA BC-418 measurement device. For the determination of
motoric properties, 30-second curl up and push up, sit and reach flexibility
test, standing long jump, static stability, flexed arm hang, right-left grip
force, 30m sprint, t-agility and 20m shuttle running tests were applied.
Results: The data were evaluated statistically in the SPSS 23 program and One-way
ANOVA-Tukey test was used to determine the relationship between the groups and
a significance level of 0.05 was chosen. Statistically significant difference
was found between each groups in the a lot parameters of flexed arm hang,
standing long jump, 20m shuttle run, 30m sprint parameters; O-N, O-U, N-U
between groups, 30 sec curl up, 30 sec push-up parameters; O-N, O-U between
groups, static balance, right-left grip force parameters; O-U, N-U between
groups, t-agility parameter; O and U between groups.However, no statistically
significant difference was found in the flexibility parameter (p<0.05).
Conclusion: 10-12 years old boys classified by body mass index according to
physical, physiological and motoric characteristics, it was found that underweight
and normal children generally perform better than overweight.

10-12 YAŞ GRUBUNDAKİ ERKEK ÇOCUKLARIN BEDEN KİTLE İNDEKSİNE GÖRE FİZİKSEL, FİZYOLOJİK VE MOTORİK ÖZELLİKLERİNİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

Çocukların motor beceri yeterliliği,
fiziksel aktivite seviyesi ve fitness düzeyini sağlıkla ilgili parametrelerle
ilişkilendiren önemli bir faktör olabilmektedir. Amaç:  Bu çalışmanın amacı, 10-12 yaş grubundaki
erkek çocukların önemli bir sağlık parametresi olan beden kitle indeksine göre
fiziksel, fizyolojik ve motorik özelliklerine göre değerlendirilmesidir. Gereç
ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya yaş ortalamaları 11.7±0.06 olan, beden kitle indeksine
göre zayıf (Z, n:94), normal (N,n:92) ve kilolu (K, n:40) olmak üzere toplam
226 erkek çocuk gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Çocukların boy uzunluğu, vücut
ağırlığı, beden kitle indeksi (BKI) TANİTA BC-418 ölçüm cihazıyla ölçüldü.
Motorik özelliklerin tespitinde, 30 saniye mekik-şınav, esneklik, durarak uzun
atlama, statik denge, barfiks asılı kalma, sağ-sol kavrama kuvveti, 30m sürat,
t-çeviklik ve 20m mekik koşu testleri uygulandı. Bulgular: Veriler istatiksel
olarak SPSS 23 programında değerlendirilerek, gruplar arasındaki ilişkinin
tespitinde Tek yönlü ANOVA-TUKEY testi uygulandı ve anlamlılık düzeyi 0.05
olarak seçildi. Yapılan değerlendirmede esneklik parametresi hariç barfiks
asılı kalma, durarak uzun atlama, 20m mekik koşusu, sürat parametrelerinde;
K-N, K-Z, N-Z grupları arasında, mekik, şınav, parametrelerinde; K-N, K-Z
gruplar arasında, statik denge, sağ ve sol kavrama parametrelerinde; K-Z, N-Z gruplar
arasında, t-çeviklik parametresinde; K-Z grupları arasında istatiksel açıdan
anlamlı bir fark tespit edilmiştir (p<0.05).Sonuç: Beden kütle indeksine
göre sınıflandırılan 10-12 yaş erkek çocukların fiziksel, fizyolojik ve motorik
özelliklerine göre, zayıf ve normal çocukların kilolu olanlardan fizyolojik ve
motorik parametrelerinde çoğunlukla daha iyi performans gösterdiği tespit
edilmiştir.
